Oblate Necrology 

 

The oblate necrology is a list of the deceased oblates of Mt. Angel Abbey. The necrology is presented here as an opportunity to pray for their souls, for their release from Purgatory, and their eternal peace in our Lord.

The practice of prayer for the dead is considered "holy and pious" in Sacred Scripture (2 Maccabees 13:38-46), and also in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 1032). St John Chrysostom taught, “Let us not hesitate to help those who have died and to offer our prayers for them.”

Please inform us here with the names of recently deceased oblates, and the date of their passing, so that they can be included in the necrology.

Prayer of St. Gertrude for the release of souls in Purgatory:

"Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen."
