“O” Antiphons
O Wisdom, the living Word, you embrace all creation, you that have come forth from the Most High and ordered all things mightily but gently: come Lord, O come to teach us your way of prudence.
O Adonai and Prince of the house of Israel, you appeared to Moses in the fire of the blaming bush and you gave to him the law on Mount Sinai: come Lord, O come to redeem us, come with your mighty arm.
O Root of Jesse, you arise as a sign for all mankind, before you all kings will fall silent, and to you all nations will cry out: come, Lord, O come to save us, and do not delay.
O Key of David, and regal scepter of the house of Israel; when you open no one closes, and when you close no one opens: come Lord, and lead forth from prison all captives who are sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death.
O Dawning Day, Splendor of eternal Light, and long-awaited Sun of Justice: come, Lord, O come and enlighten those who are dwelling in darkness and in the shadow of death.
O King of all nations and deepest Desire of all, you are the precious Cornerstone that alone unites them: come Lord, O come to save all mankind.
O Emmanuel, our King and our Lawgiver, the Expectation of all nations, and Savior of all: come, Lord, O come to save us, Our LORD and our God.
